Cajun Shrimp pasta uses minimal ingredients, homemade cajun seasoning and pantry staples.
Family friendly and macro friendly!
Season the raw shrimp with your homemade Cajun seasoning blend. Mix together to ensure the shrimp is evenly coated.
In a skillet over medium heat, pan-sear the shrimp on one side for 2 minutes, flip and add the chopped sausage.
Add the chopped sausage to the pan with the cooked shrimp and cook for 3-5 minutes to brown. Remove and set aside.
In the same pan you cooked the shrimp and sausage add the butter and melt. Add flour and mix to create your roux.
Mix until the flour has absorbed the butter and you have formed a flour paste. This is what you'll use to thicken the creamy cajun sauce.
Slowly add the half and half a little as a time to the roux and whisk until the flour is no longer chunky and the sauce begins to thicken. This takes approximately 5 minutes. Remove from the heat.
Add 1 Tbsp. Cajun seasoning to the sauce and stir together well. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of cheese in the sauce and mix together well.
Add the noodles to the sauce and mix together to evenly coat before adding the cooked shrimp and sausage. This ensures every bite is deliciously coated in sauce.
Add the shrimp and sausage directly to the pasta. The seasonings on the shrimp and sausage will add so much flavor to your pasta when you combine.
Mix well to combine and ensure the deliciously cooked shrimp and sausage are evenly distributed throughout the dish.
Top with fresh chopped parsley and/or freshly grated parmesan cheese and enjoy your creamy cajun shrimp pasta.
