This creamy cilantro sauce is an explosion of fresh flavors in one rich and creamy sauce. The cilantro, garlic and apple cider vinegar give the dressing an earthy sweetness and the Greek yogurt and cottage cheese combo adds protein but not a lot of fat.

Homemade salad dressings are the way to go. They’re inexpensive, incredibly fresh and you control what goes in them. Use this one for ground turkey burrito bowls, garden salads or as a dipping sauce.

Try more of my favorite sauces, like cottage cheese avocado crema, peanut butter sauce or chipotle ranch dressing.

An overhead view of various ingredients labeled: cottage cheese, olive oil, pepper, hot sauce, apple cider vinegar, water, Greek yogurt, cilantro for a creamy cilantro dressing, garlic, and salt. All are arranged on a white tile surface.
  • Fresh Cilantro
  • Low-Fat Cottage Cheese: use a cottage cheese that’s not too watery. I love good culture. You can also use full-fat for a creamier sauce.
  • Non-Fat Plain Greek Yogurt: adds protein but not too much fat. You can use full-fat, regular yogurt or sour cream, if desired.
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil: or avocado oil.
  • Fresh Garlic
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Cholula: add a couple dashes of hot sauce some heat. Use your favorite!

Variations

  • Add fresh lime juice to turn this into a creamy cilantro lime dressing.
  • Add red pepper flakes for a bit of kick you can’t get with hot sauce alone.

Dietary Modifications

  • This recipe is gluten-free, as is.
  • For dairy-free, use a dairy-free cottage cheese and dairy-free yogurt for the cream sauce.
