High Protein Velvety Chocolate Pudding

This creamy chocolate Protein Pudding is a great post workout snack or guilt-free dessert. Made with Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, protein powder and honey, this easy recipe is rich, velvety and actually has pudding texture!

This high-protein sweet treat is made with cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, protein powder and sweetened with honey. It has a velvety rich texture and is full of chocolatey flavor making it the perfect healthy snack. The best part is comes together in a couple of minutes with only an hour of chill time, making it the perfect make-ahead dessert to snack on all week long.

This chocolate protein pudding is a great way to get a protein boost and satisfy your sweet tooth at the same time. It’s creamy, has 32 g protein per serving and has traditional pudding texture.

Cocoa powder, honey, cottage cheese, greek yogurt and protein powder laid out to make pudding.
  • Low-Fat Cottage Cheese: you can also use full-fat for a richer pudding.
  • Non-fat Plain Greek Yogurt: adds extra protein and makes the pudding creamy. You can use full-fat Greek yogurt for an even creamier pudding.
  • Chocolate Protein Powder: use your favorite brand you love the flavor of. I am using PEScience Chocolate Truffle which has the perfect amount of sweetness, use code OHSNAP to save.
  • Honey: or maple syrup.
  • Cocoa Powder: this gives the chocolate

Variations

  • Add a drizzle of homemade peanut butter syrup or almond butter.
  • Play with different flavors of protein powder. You can make vanilla pudding with vanilla protein powder, mint chocolate pudding with mint protein powder, birthday cake, or instant pudding mix like pistachio pudding, etc.
  • Add chocolate chips for extra chocolatey!
  • For a thinner consistency add unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk.
  • Add chia seeds for a fun texture.

How to make this high protein pudding recipe (a step-by-step visual guide):

Step 1: add everything to a blender

Add everything to a blender or food processor and blend for at least 5 minutes to get the right texture. Make sure the cottage cheese is no longer chunky or chalky. You may need to stop and push the sides down with a rubber spatula while blending to get everything to combine.

Blend for at least 5 minutes to get the right texture (image 2). Make sure the cottage cheese is no longer chunky or chalky. You may need to stop and push the sides down with a rubber spatula while blending to get everything to combine.

Step 2: add to pudding cups and chill

Split evenly between two small pudding cups (image 3) and let set in the fridge for at least one hour before enjoying.

Top with fresh berries, whipped cream and your favorite toppings or enjoy as is right out of the fridge.

Make a double batch. Half chocolate and half vanilla to snack on all week.

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Can I switch out the protein powder to any flavor?

Yes! Use your favorite protein powder to play with pudding flavors. Omit the cocoa powder and use vanilla protein for a vanilla protein pudding. Be sure to note that if you’re using a protein powder that is not very sweet you will need to increase the sweetness with honey!

How do I make this lower calorie?

Turn it into 4 snack pack sizes. This recipe is written to give you two hefty servings of pudding but if you want smaller and half the calories and protein just turn it into 4 minis.

Can I make one big pudding?

Add all of the pudding to a large bowl and let it chill in the fridge, you can then scoop directly from that when you’re ready to enjoy some pudding.

Notes

  • Important! The sweetness of your protein powder will make a difference. If youโ€™re using a protein powder that is not very sweet you will want to increase the honey. I am using PEScience Chocolate Truffle which has a perfect amount of sweetness, use code OHSNAP to save.
  • Want it lower calorie and similar to a snack pack size? Make into 4 servings. ย 
  • You can use 1 tbsp. of honey and taste to see if you need to add the other 1 tbsp. Depending on the sweetness of your protein powder this can be adjusted.ย

  1. What’s your estimate of the serving size for the nutritional info? I made my first batch today and it’s good; needs some tweaking as our protein powder is unsweetened. Thank you for sharing!

    1. Written as 2 servings so I donโ€™t have a gram per serving since itโ€™s just 2, just split what you end up with. Unsweetened protein powder will definitely need some tweaks! Glad you liked it though.

    Holy jeeeeez this is AMAZING!!! I tried it using dark chocolate collagen peptides rather than the PEScience, don’t do that. Definitely buy the protein powder, it’s KEY!! I did sub the cocoa powder for the peptides and that worked well. So so so so so freaking good!!!! So creamy and thick!!! Will be making this daily!! Absolutely love your recipes!!!!
