Can you freeze this chili?

Definitely. I like using Souper Cubes to freeze soups and stews. They make is really easy to freeze this macro friendly chili in single serve portions. Use code: OHSNAPMACROS10 to get 10% off your first order of Souper Cubes.

What toppings do you put on chili?

We like to use Greek yogurt our sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, red onion and Sweet Heat Jalapenos. You could also add avocado or even put some corn bread directly into the macro friendly chili and mash it all up! It is delicious with or without toppings.

Do you have to use a Instant Pot?

No! You can make this stove top as well. Simply brown your meat directly in the pan, add all the ingredients and bring to a boil. Once the macro friendly chili is boiling, reduce to a simmer, cover and let simmer for 30 minutes. Be careful not to over simmer as you will loose liquid.

You can also make this in the crockpot. Using the same method as above place the lid o the slow cooker and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours or high for 2 to 3. Again, be careful not to over cook and loose liquid.

Ingredients and Substitutes:

These are the main ingredients and substitutions. See recipe card below for the full list and instrutions for Macro Friendly Chili.

Ground Turkey and Ground Beef: this recipe calls for a pound of lean ground turkey and ground beef. You can substitute with any ground meet like ground chicken or all turkey.

Fire Roasted Tomatoes: a lot of delicious flavor comes from the fire roasted tomatoes. I would only suggest substituting out one can with regular. I have also made this recipe with different flavored diced tomatoes and had great results. Sweet onions and garlic was great.

Green Chilis: you can use green chilis or chopped jalapenos for added spice.

Chili Beans: we love adding beans to our chili and the BUSH’S BEST Mixed Beans in a Mild Chili Sauce. You can substitute with other brands but I have found this one adds the best flavors.

    1. Id look for beans in a chili type sauce as theyโ€™ll add tons of flavor. Typically will say chili beans or beans in chili sauce.

  1. Is the 4 tablespoons of chili powder a typo? It seemed like way too much. And another of your recipes had the chili as a base for something like enchiladas, and that one said 1 tablespoonโ€ฆ. ?

Wow! This was SO good. My first ohsnapmacros recipe, but excited to try more! Just got your cookbook too. ๐Ÿ™‚

Really good. Had to do some on the spot alterations to decrease volume bc I realized you most definitely need the LARGE instant pot. Just a heads up! I’ll probably make a half batch next time but this will definitely be a go to – so so easy and minimal clean up = A+

I make this on the stovetop and we have made it twice in 2 weeks. My husband and I both LOVE it! We are excited for dinner time when this is on the menu! So much flavor! Will definitely be a regular in the cold weather rotation!

The best chili is named this for a reason! It literally IS the best, hands down! Iโ€™ve tried numerous recipes; spicy, extra meat, beans, no beans, you name it. This recipe is the perfect balance of all the ingredients, up to and including the beans. We HATE beans in this house but love this recipe WITH beans. Tons of flavor, easy to make, minimal mess being one pot. How can you not love this? Itโ€™s truly a game changing recipe that we continue to serve on repeat in this house. Highly, highly recommend. You wonโ€™t be disappointed.

    1. Isn’t that the best? I love discovering recipes like that and I’m so grateful mine was one of those for you!

So good! I was just wondering what size can diced green chilies did you use? My grocery store had multiple sizes so I went with a larger one and I know it won’t likely matter that much but just curious!

I’m not a huge chili person but it’s getting cold out and Danielle never steers you wrong with her recipes. This was SO good!! Will be on rotation this fall and winter for sure.

Just made this last night – so delicious! I used 97% lean turkey because it was half as much as 99%, used the whole can of beef broth (because I knew Iโ€™d end up throwing it away in 2 weeks), added an extra red bell pepper and a zucchini. It was so easy to make and so good! I think Iโ€™ll decrease the chili powder to 3 tbsp next time because it was a bit too much for me. Weโ€™ll definitely be having this again this winter!

Just made this for our family and it was a huge hit! Everyone loved it! This will definitely be in our rotation through the colder months!

Absolutely delicious. I add things and leave things out and change it slightly every time, but the base recipe is so good that it allows a lot of freedom for that. Perfect recipe.

This is SOO good. I made a few minor tweaks on mine but dang. This was tasty. I left the tomato paste out of mine and let the diced tomatoes simmer on low for awhile to thicken up instead. And I used โ€œranch style beansโ€ cause I couldnโ€™t find the mixed ones. Try it yโ€™all, youโ€™ll love.
