This shake is light and creamy without all the added ingredients. Think vanilla cream flavor loaded with cookie chunks and chocolatey flavors while still being light and filling.

The best part is this shake is only 273 calories. This is a favorite recipe since it travels so well and you don’t even actually need a blender to make it, simply half all the ingredients, toss them in a blender ball cup, and off you go with your day.

Why you’ll love this recipe:

  • This easy cookies and cream protein shake only uses 4 simple ingredients you likely have on hand!
  • Delicious protein-packed treat.
  • A nice change from packaged protein shakes or a typical scoop of protein powder with water.
  • Refrigerate and come back to it when you’re ready or take it on the go.

Cookies and Cream Protein Shake Ingredients

These are the main ingredients for the cookies and cream protein shake. For full details view the recipe card below.

Protein powder: I used PEScience Gourmet Vanilla. If you don’t have a Vanilla protein powder, you could definitely use a Cookies and Cream protein powder flavor. A vanilla or neutral flavor work great in this recipe to keep it nice and creamy and let the Oreo cookie flavor shine on its own. If you have the room add more crushed-up Oreos for extra flavor or opt for a chocolate protein powder instead for double the chocolate flavors. Not all protein powders are the same so please make sure you use your favorite protein powder or one that you actually like the taste of since it’s going to be a heavy flavor in this shake. You can use whey protein powder, vegan protein powder, or any other option you prefer.

Almond milk: use vanilla almond milk so you can skip out on adding any additional flavoring. You can use any type of milk for this though like cashew, oat, soy milk, regular, coconut milk, any dairy-free milk or whatever creamy milk you prefer.

Greek Yogurt: the creaminess! The yogurt really helps make this a nice and creamy shake. It thickens it up while also adding extra protein and keeping it low in calories and is a great option since it adds protein. You can use any preferred Greek yogurt or even a vanilla-flavored one. I am using Fage 0% nonfat plain Greek yogurt for this shake and it’s my go to in all recipes.

Oreo Thins: the star of the show. It wouldn’t be a cookies and cream shake without the cookies. You can use regular Oreos, mini Oreos, oreo thins or get crazy and grab any of their new flavors like lemon, mint, chocolate, and of course gluten free!

How to make this easy protein shake

  • Add the almond milk, protein powder and yogurt to the blender or even just a simple blender ball cup with a good blender ball and blend until smooth! Since there are no hard ingredients in this recipe you can really make this on the go in a cup without any issues at all.
  • Add the Oreos and pulse to slightly break up or crush and mix in your blender ball cup. If using a cup be sure to crunch the Oreos up nice and small or keep them large if you want it chunky.
  • Pour into a glass or travel cup, top with remaining Oreos, whipped cream, and enjoy!

You can absolutely HALF this recipe too to make one serving. Half all the ingredients. If you make the full recipe you can save one serving in the fridge for the following day.

Use this base multiple ways!

Toppings and add in’s with the SAME vanilla-based base:

  • Powdered peanut butter or almond butter added to the cookies and cream shake for a peanut butter chocolate cookie flavor would be awesome. There’s even a chocolate-flavored powdered peanut butter that would be A++ in this!
  • Cocoa powder or chocolate chips! Add in some cocoa powder for an extra chocolatey flavor or chocolate chips.
  • Mint extract or mint-stuffed Oreos for mint chocolate or even skip the Oreos and use a couple of chocolate graham cracker sheets and chocolate chips, YUM!!
  • Add ice cream for a true milkshake flavor! Add a scoop or two of carb-smart ice cream to keep the carbs low OR use your Ninja Creami creations for a cookies and cream protein milkshake.
  • Have you tried my White Chocolate Cranberry Oatmeal Cookies yet? They’re my favorite soft-baked delicious cookies and would be the best addition to this cookies and cream shake.
  • Granola!! Any of my granolas would be a great addition to this shake but definitely check out the Smore’s granola for adding on top or mixed in.
  • For some added fiber toss in some chia seeds! They’ll just add extra texture to this cookies and cream protein shake.
  • Cereal! Add it to the blender with the ingredients or top the shake with your favorite cereal for a crunch! For extra protein use Magic Spoon Chocolate cereal.
  • If you want to thicken this shake up while keeping the creamy texture and add a bit of a milkshake flavor to this cookies and cream protein shake, add xanthan gum which works to thicken.

This is possibly the best protein shake EVER. I love the easy idea of adding the Oreo thins. Make it feel like a milk shake but with the benefit of all the protein.
